Phi Montri makes hemp shoes in a small factory on the outskirts of Chiang Mai. Before we began working together, he had worked with cotton and other materials until he discovered hemp. The toughness and sustainability of this alternative material fascinated him. He is the perfect partner for continuing to learn about and explore this natural material to make environmentally friendly clothing.

Phi Montri has no employees in his factory. On the contrary, he opens his production space to the community so they can help make shoes and receive the same benefits as everyone else. This gives everyone an additional incentive to work harder and build relationships with their neighbors.

Phi Montri has gained years of experience by creating beautiful and unique shoes with his team of local artisans.

Learning exchange

Phi Montri was already fascinated by the versatility of hemp before he got to know it, but even today we both continue to learn how to make the most of this material.

For example, thanks to his team, we learned a great deal about hemp production and taught him new ways to create ecological and sustainable products in harmony with the environment. Years ago, Phi Montri used a lot of glue to make shoe soles; now he prefers to sew the different layers together.
