T-Shirts with Meaning

A graphic T-shirt is more than a printed piece of fabric - provided the design has a story. Our designs are created together with artist friends in northern Thailand and Nepal. Each one features a symbol we discovered on our travels.

The Designs

1. Mandala: Sanskrit for “circle.” In Hinduism and Buddhism, an aid to meditation - the gaze follows the structure from the outside inward and gradually becomes calm.
2. Flower of Life: overlapping circles forming an endless floral pattern. A very old symbol of interconnectedness.
3. World Tree: connects heaven, earth, and the underworld in many mythologies. Roots below, crown above - an image of how growth requires roots.
4. Sak Yant: geometric blessings from Thailand, traditionally tattooed by monks.
5. Dotwork and Psy Designs: elaborate dotwork and psychedelic patterns for Goa and festivals.

Cotton, Not Polyester

All shirts are made of cotton. This is not a given with printed T-shirts - many graphic T-shirts on the market are made from blended fabrics with a high polyester content because printing on them is cheaper. Cotton breathes better, feels more comfortable, and absorbs less odor.

The prints are applied to last for several years. Wash inside out at 30 degrees, and do not tumble-dry - then the design will stay as it was.

Fit and Sizes

Our T-shirts have a straight cut and fit true to size. They are unisex - where a model runs narrower or looser, this is stated on the product page. We carry S to XXL.

How to Style Them

A graphic T-shirt is the statement piece. Pair it with something understated on the bottom: plain harem pants in black or olive. If both the pants and shirt are patterned at the same time, the look can feel busy.

An open shirt, a kimono, or a poncho works well as a second layer - this keeps the design visible and prepares you for cooler hours.

Why We Treat Symbols with Care

Many of these symbols come from living religious traditions. For devout Thais, a Sak Yant is not an ornament but a blessing. That is why we do not treat such symbols as arbitrary decoration - we work with local artists and explain where a design comes from.
