Baja Hoodies and Baja Jackets

The Baja hoodie is a hooded sweatshirt made from the typical Mexican striped fabric—coarsely woven, loose-fitting, with a large front kangaroo pocket. In Mexico, it is called a Baja sweatshirt or Jerga, named after the fabric. In the 1960s, Californian surfers brought it back from Baja California, and since then it has become a staple.

What makes it special: It keeps you warm without adding bulk, and the coarse fabric becomes softer over the years rather than looking worn out.

Baja Hoodie or Baja Jacket?

The hoodie is pulled on over the head and is the classic style. The Baja jacket has a full-length zipper at the front—more practical if you often put it on and take it off, for example during the transitional seasons. We offer both styles as unisex options, some of them lined.

How to wear it

Because the striped fabric is already patterned, it is best to keep the rest understated: a solid-color pair of harem pants or straight-cut trousers, paired with a simple shirt. For colder days, we also offer wool ponchos.
