Aladdin Pants for Women and Men

Aladdin pants are the most generous style among wide-leg trousers: a low crotch, plenty of fabric, and a strong drape. They fit tightly nowhere and restrict no movement - which is why they are also often worn as yoga pants.

They owe their name to the fairy tale, not to the cut. Historically, like harem pants, they derive from the Persian Şalvar and the South Asian Salwar.

Aladdin Pants, Sarouel Pants, or Bombacho?

Three names that often mean the same thing in retail - with subtle differences:

1. Aladdin pants: low crotch, wide leg, usually with ankle cuffs.
2. Sarouel pants: from the Arabic Sirwal via French. The crotch sits even lower, and the fabric drapes more heavily.
3. Bombacho: the Spanish term for the same idea. Originally comes from the South American gaucho tradition.
4. Harem pants: the umbrella term, usually with a slightly higher crotch.

Usually cut as unisex

In their regions of origin, Aladdin pants were never exclusively women's or men's clothing, but both. That is why most of our models are unisex - here you will find Aladdin pants for women as well as for men. Where the cut differs, this is stated on the product page.

Sizes and fit

We offer S/M, L/XL, and XXL. Thanks to the elastic waistband, one model often fits across two clothing sizes. If you are between sizes, choose the larger one - the cut relies on drape, not tightness.

On shorter people, Aladdin pants with a very low crotch can quickly look overwhelming. In that case, harem pants with a medium-low cut or a short version are usually the more balanced choice.

Materials and patterns

Most models are made from steam-treated cotton from Thailand - lightweight, breathable, and easy to care for. We make some pants from a cotton-hemp blend that is more durable and absorbs very little odor. Find out more about hemp clothing.

Many Aladdin pants feature large-scale patterns: mandalas, flowers of life, and hand-painted psychedelic designs. Those who prefer a quieter look will find solid-color models in black, taupe, and green.

How to style Aladdin pants

Because so much fabric drapes below, keep the top half slim: a fitted shirt or top. This is especially true for patterned models - one statement piece is enough. Pair them with flat shoes, not heels: a low crotch and high heels work against each other visually.

Care

Wash at 30 degrees and inside out; do not tumble-dry - the heat makes the elastic waistband brittle over time. Wash new, vibrant colors separately during the first few washes, as hand-dyed fabrics may bleed.
